Back to today’s update:
working out a puzzle.
“Beats me. I can’t even read the keys.” They were all asuran script after all. “Hmm.” FPS leaned over Tora’s shoulder, observing the keys for himself. He pointed to a pad on the side. “I’m fairly certain those are numbers.” He pointed to another just below it. “And that’s the ENTER key. We press that when we’re done.”
“Wait, you can read this?!”
“Oh no, I just have a co-worker who uses a typewriter with a similar layout.” “Huh. Ya don’t say.”
They stared at the keys for a bit.“What do asura use for passwords, do you think?” FPS asked.
“Uh… numbers?” This was twice now that Tora’s answer to asuran tendencies was
numbers. He was pretty sure Dwag would not approve.
“Oh let’s try that!” FPS concurred, reaching for the number keys.
“Sure, but ah… that can’t possibly work.”
FPS typed, saying each number out loud as he did, “1-2-3-4 aaaand enter.” The console whirred as it considered FPS’s input.
“Don’tcha think 1-2-3-4 is a bit simple?” Tora asked.“Do you think?” FPS thought about it. “Perhaps I should have tried 1-1-1-1?” “I think that’s worse.”
“Maybe 2-2-2-2?”
“Mate, I don’t think—“
The door gave a happy chirp and slid open before they could even try another
number.
“Oh would you look at that! We cracked the code!” FPS said excitedly.
Tora stared at the door, utterly baffled. Shook his head and muttered, “…Just how
much do asuras love numbers exactly?”
Shrugging off his confusion, he followed FPS through the door into another hallway.
It didn’t seem much different from the hallway they’d just left. However… all the rooms were locked with the same console mechanism.
They tried a few rooms, using the same password as before: 1-2-3-4. F
PS uttered “cracked the code” under his breath every time it worked—which was every time. It worked every time. The password was always 1-2-3-4.
“Guy really needs to work on his security,” Tora commented when it worked the fifth time.
